I'm aspire to make science education more interesting and appealing to young audience. As we all know, the root of all evil start with ignorance. By learning why our world shape to what it is, I hope they can gain some insight to being responsible, as in being responsible to the society, nation and God for creating life itself.
I hope that when readers read and study the scrible, picture or guide given in this blog, it can promote them to also encourage sharing resources among themselves. This practice which was now seem deteriorating (at least at my place) need to be revive. We're all in this together, If we are not together, we shall fall. (that's why I hate nation politics)
I always look at Japan, UK and US for their wealth of knowledge in science (because they are in English and some English-Translated japan books, sorry German and French; i have yet to learn your language) The US and UK have lots of knowledge but it seems "bored" in terms of presentation of the knowledge (as I have reseached). but nevertheless, the academic society there can tolerate that and they excel at their field. The Japan had intense amount of creativity (manga, anime, etc.) in which also spread to its world of academia. This does not hinder, but instead it promotes and raises the level of academic in Japan Society (most japanese people know a lot of things from basic electricty to certain engineering terms even they only study untill high school) This creative burst also affect US and UK recently when translated version of these media were released there. (No Starch Press released the Manga guide series) and thus, the academic level also risen there as well.
As I look at these development, I wonder, can I make it here in Malaysia too? I want to make a Malaysian-made Creative-theme-science-textbook. It may be in Graphic novel form, it may be full of picture and decorated in a creative artsy style.
The easiest way is to import the books here, but there's a problem. Our youth in Malaysia does not read. and when showed a creative or picture oriented book, they put it aside and labelled it as kid stuff. They are acting like they are mature to the point they are actually not. They played with their Ipad (which had better things to do) all day along and hanging with friend that had the same ideology all day long. As a result, what stays together, falls together. They all become drop outs of high school, college and universities. What angers me, they even replied "Academics doesn't prove anything, look at Mark Zuckenberg, he's a drop out, like us!" God, help me. they think they have entrepeneur spirit? Mark Zuckenberg drop out because he was busy doing SOMETHING. and these youth were doing NOTHING. (I getting carried away here~)
I hope that it is not too late, and i am doing this in hope that it can rekindle their spirit to learn. As well as attracting newcomers to the wonder of science. Most of the thing you will see here will be in pictures or in simplest summary form of information. It may be not much in these blog in these early few years, but I'm sure
it will become something in a few more years. Let's wait and see,
November 2012
